Scenic Hills Baptist Church (SHBC) was started in 1980 by Pastor Gary Evans. Due to many Biblical issues, he left the SBC, and SHBC became an Independent Baptist Church. The Pastor uses only the King James Version (KJV) by conviction, and worship is still traditional with old-fashioned preaching and hymns for music. Also, the church strongly believes in Faith Promise Missions and is currently sending support to sixteen like-minded missionaries.

Members of the church pass out tracts and go soul-winning each week. There are Sunday School classes for all ages. Every service is a preaching meeting.

All the facilities are clean and maintained. There is a very nice nursery room, a fenced playground, and indoor games.

The Pastor and his wife are home schooling their youngest son, Joseph. Their four older children were schooled in a mixture of home schooling and Christian school. Their two oldest children have graduated from Pensacola Christian College.

Each Sunday after the evening service, the church members have a time of prayer and a fellowship meal following.

The church members are friendly and always make visitors feel welcome.

Without meaning to offend, the church is not Charismatic nor does the church agree/participate with the modern Evangelical or ecumenical movements.
